My Approach & Background
I’ve been working as a hair designer for about 34 years and loving it all the while.
I have taken many workshops and classes with a variety of Masters stylists from Paul Mitchell to Toni and Guy, to Horst … and many other “old school” masters that many of you may or not recognize … both American and European. I continue to educate myself on the current trends with haircutting and color as my specialty.
When I am not in my studio I am working at 3 different senior/rehabilitation centers doing hair. I thoroughly enjoy being in the company of our elders and wisdom they have to share. It is a whole different type of hair design and I believe that it keeps me humble and well rounded.
Every other Friday I volunteer at Seattle Cancer Alliance in their retail store called Shine. They have a small salon set up for doing head shaves (and wig fitting) for cancer patients who are going through treatment. I recently have been educated in the fitting, cutting and styling of Jon Renau wigs. This wig line is unique in that there are over one hundred different and current styles to choose from and the wigs come in a good variety of colors. They are by far the most natural looking as I have seen and it is so nice to have another option than just a shaved head. I have the incredible opportunity to share a moment of life with people from all over the world who are on a journey that is so intense. Their experiences and wisdom constantly amaze me. I feel very fortunate to have this experience…it is a gift.
My goal in life is to do what you love with an open heart and to give with joy in all you do. It is my philosophy in life and I strive to carry it through in my work and every day life.
My home is shared with my dog Eossie and 3 cats Bud, Bobby and Stanley who keep me busy and make sure that I don’t waste all the extra free time I have!!
I am an avid animal rights supporter and e-activist. I believe that to really understand life, you need a deep connection to nature and the natural world. Two of my favorite causes are the Global White Lion Trust and the Sacred World Peace Church Alliance, the keepers of the White Buffalo.
I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana were I attended beauty school and worked as an assistant designer and make-up artist until I relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1980. I lived and worked in Boston until 1993 and then relocated to Seattle, Washington where I currently work and reside.
